Self-Esteem
Self-esteem is a concept that sometimes is very difficult to understand because, in some cases, we think that it means how beautiful or how smart I am but that is not true at all. In simple words self-esteem means how much I love myself in the way I am.
As human beings, all of us, without exception, have virtues and defects, that is one of the reasons why we are human because if we were perfect, I am sure that we would not be human beings. So, why is it so difficult to accept ourselves the way we are? Well it is here where Self-esteem plays a significant role. It is essential not to confuse concepts. Having a high self esteem does not mean that you are almost perfect, and you are better than other people; having a high self esteem means that you feel good with yourself; it is very important not to become a narcissist so we always have to remember our defects because it is sometimes easier to see other´s faults rather than ours.
We need to find a balance in life; everything in excess is bad. We already know that nobody is perfect and nobody in the world is better or worse than us. There are people that have a complex of inferiority because maybe they do not look like an actor or an actress or they do not have abilities that other people have but all of us are special in different ways; we only need to find out the area we are good at and also try to improve those ones in which we are not very good at.
We need to be happy with who we are and love ourselves so much because if we do not love ourselves who is going to do it? We also have to know all the faults and qualities that we have and try to be better every day but not because other people tell us that we are wrong or because we want to be like another person. If we want to change something it should be only because we are going to feel better with that change. Everybody has abilities and beauty, but it all depends on your perspective, the way you life through your eyes.
